In a bid to improve visitor numbers, we were asked to redesign Westminster Abbey’s website. A technology company had been hired to build it but our creative and information architecture expertise was needed to make it relevant and appealing to different types of visitors.
Before commencing the design we refreshed the Abbey’s brand - using its grandeur and historical longevity to differentiate it from other London attractions.
For the website we completely transformed the user experience, creating different and dedicated sections for tourists, worshipers, schools, event organisers and choir singers. To capture the visual splendour of the Abbey we featured the inspiring brand photography we’d created with the Abbey’s official photographer.
Since launching in 2005 we have designed two subsequent site refreshes, the most recent being to mark the occasion of the Royal Wedding and the focus this bought on the Westminster Abbey.
